Affiliate disclosure

Some links on Lights On Labs may earn us a commission when you buy something. You pay the same price, and the commission doesn’t change what we recommend.

Where things stand

We belong to one affiliate program, Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. The “Check price on Amazon” links on our buying guides and in the cost comparison carry our tag. Links to makers’ and other retailers’ stores pay us nothing. When we join another program, we’ll name it on this page and change the date at the top.

How affiliate links work

A retailer or manufacturer gives a site a tracked link. If you follow that link and buy within a set time, the seller pays the site a share of the sale. The seller tracks this on its own website, usually with a cookie. Your price is the same whether you use our link or go to the store directly.

What commissions don’t affect

Commissions don’t decide which products we cover, how we rank them or what our safety pages say. The runtime calculator and the wattage data don’t know which brands pay. Some products we recommend may have no affiliate program at all, and we’ll still link to them. Our editorial policy has the rest of the rules.

Where you’ll see a disclosure

A short version sits in the footer of every page. Any page that carries affiliate links will also say so near the top, before the first link.
